Community service, philanthropy, leadership, and sisterhood are some of the most common expressions associated with the University of Mount Union’s four sororities.
With sorority recruitment officially starting on October 6, Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Xi Delta and Delta Sigma Tau are looking forward to meeting their potential new sisters.
Throughout the week, potential new sisters will be guided by Rho Gammas, sisters who disaffiliate from their chapter, who will help them find their new sorority home and answer any questions they have along the way. Each night is centered around a theme to help engage in conversation between the chapters and potential new sisters.
The schedule for sorority recruitment goes as follows:
Friday, October 6: Sisterhood Round at 7 p.m.
Saturday, October 7, Philanthropy Round at 5 p.m.
Sunday, October 8: Preference Round at 11 a.m. and Bid Day at 6 p.m.
As of Monday, September 25, 92 women have signed up for sorority recruitment. This number reflects the huge effort of the Panhellenic Council, an executive council of sisters from each chapter to help with recruitment, special events, and interfraternalism. Throughout the semester, Panhellenic has hosted several “Sorority 101” sessions, a Do-Nut Miss Out night and house tours. Panhellenic also decided that the theme for recruitment this year to be “Friends.”
Panhellenic’s campus outreach chair Brenna Kelley says, “I’m most excited for all of the women going through recruitment to experience what our sororities have to offer from philanthropy and service to friendship and sisterhood.”
