Alexis Sanchez has apparently dropped a transfer hint on social media amid intense speculation he is set to leave Arsenal.
The Chilean has been looking for a way out of the Emirates all summer, with Manchester City keen to offer the forward an escape route.
The 28-year-old is desperate to play Champions League football this season, which the Gunners are unable to offer him.
But Arsenal are just as desperate to keep hold of Sanchez, and have already rejected a £50million bid from the Citizens.
The Gunners are holding out for a figure of around £70million before they would even consider letting the Chilean go. And even then they want an adequate replacement, with Paris Saint-Germain star Julian Draxler’s name being floated about.
Fans have been keeping a close eye on Sanchez throughout this transfer window, and some picked up on the fact he recently ‘liked’ a picture of himself on Instagram.
The image, which appeared on the futbol_akademi page, shows the Chilean’s face superimposed on top of Neymar’s in a picture Gerard Pique posted online.
The original, now infamous photo, uploaded by the Barcelona centre-back, was captioned “Se queda,” which translates as “stays,” in reference to speculation surrounding Neymar.
However, the Brazilian completed a world record £199million move to Ligue 1 giants PSG soon after, leaving Pique with egg on his face.
Fans on social media are surmising that Sanchez’s acknowledgment of the picture could be him suggesting he is set to do something similar to Neymar. But only time will tell.
Man City keeper Claudio Bravo recently spoke out about Sanchez ahead of Chile’s World Cup Qualifier with Paraguay on Thursday.
Speaking to the press, the Chile shot-stopper said: “It’s good that we don’t see Alexis Sanchez becoming frustrated about things because he isn’t going through a bad situation. Quite the opposite.
“He has a great future ahead of him, whether he remains at Arsenal or looks for new horizons. But everything is in a positive light. There’s nothing negative.
“He doesn’t have to be down, quite the opposite.”
