Attorneys meet in social media prank case

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – Attorneys met for a conference in chambers on Tuesday, regarding the case of an 11-year-old Marquette boy’s suicide. His death came after a social media prank.

No decision was made today, but a new court date has been set for September 11th.

Tysen Benz died in early April following his suicide attempt. A 13-year-old girl accused of messaging Benz leading up to the attempt has been charged with malicious use of telecommunication services and using a computer to commit a crime.

Attorneys for both parties are meeting to resolve the matter. It they cannot agree, the case will be sent to a full trial.
