LEXINGTON — The Lexington Area Chamber of Commerce’s Business and Education Committee organized a fundraiser for the Blanche Senior Scholarship on Aug. 24 at Mac’s Creek Winery and Vineyards.
The event was themed “Wings and Wine” fundraiser night.
Christy Werger, executive director of the Lexington Area Chamber of Commerce, said the event was a fantastic evening filled with fun and a time for fellowship for a great cause.
“It is such a wonderful feeling to have such a great community support. A special thank you to all our event sponsors,” she said.
Werger said she didn’t yet have an official total of funds raised, but she described the fundraiser as successful. She commended the hard work of volunteer Darin Beuscher, who smoked and grilled all the wings, and all the other volunteers who helped with the event.
At the event, the committee recognized Tim Davis for more than 30 years of service on the business education committee, Werger said, noting Davis is stepping away from the committee.
The Blanche Senior Scholarship is presented to a graduating senior who is planning to further their education beyond high school. This scholarship is for $1,000 to be used for enrollment at the school of the recipient’s choice. The applicant is judged on his or her overall areas of academics, school and community activities.
Werger said the date for the 2018 Blanche Senior fundraiser is Aug. 23, 2018.
