Book fair from December 22

The Puducherry Writers’ Book Society, a registered society publishing books and promoting literary and educational awareness among public, is organising its second International Book Fair 2017 at Vel. Sokkanathan Thirumana Nilayam from December 22 to 31.

According to organisers, more than 100 book publishers, distributors and sellers from across the country and abroad, especially from Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Mauritius would participate in the fair.

More than one lakh books will be displayed during the 10-day event. Eminent writers of international repute are expected to participate and also interact with readers.

Around 1,800 students have participated in the institutional the book fair Book Fair.

Winners will get gold medals and silver medals instituted by the philanthropists of Puducherry and Tamil Nadu, and 10 personalities would be honoured with Book Seva Awards 2017 during the book fair for their contributions.

While readers and institutions making purchase worth more than ₹10,000 would get Book Raja and Book Rani Awards, those purchasing books for more than ₹50,000 would be given Book Maharaja and Maharani Awards.

Readers who make purchase for more than ₹2,000 would get Book Lover Certificate.

An International Book Fair Committee has been constituted for the successful conduct of the event with David Annoussamy former Madras High Court Judge as chief patron, R.K.R. Anantharaman, Government Whip and Vel. So.Isaikalaivan, as patrons and Dr. Panch. Ramalingam as president.

Abdul Majeed and Dr. S. Srinivasan are vice-presidents and G. Murugan, secretary.

The committee also comprises international coordinators for Malaysia, Mauritius, Singapore and Sri Lanka.
