It was a few days later than expected but the Atlanta Braves are trading Jaime Garcia to the Minnesota Twins. Atlanta will pick up 19-year old RHP Huascar Ynoa from the Twins. The Braves are also sending catcher Anthony Recker along with cash considerations to the Twins.
The Twins signed Ynoa as an international free agent in 2014. MLB.com ranks him as the 22nd-best prospect currently in the Twins system. MLB.com’s Mark Bowman reports that the Twins are assuming the remainder of Garcia’s contract.
Garcia made 18 starts for Atlanta and produced a 4.30 ERA and a 4.14 FIP in 113 innings. The Braves are reportedly still in the market to acquire a controllable front line starter and the added financial flexibility gained by this trade could help them in that capacity.
