ESPN’s College Gameday coming for Virginia Tech-Clemson

It’s official. During the Penn State-Iowa telecast Saturday night, ESPN broadcasters Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit announced College GameDay will he headed to Blacksburg, Va., this week when Virginia Tech faces Clemson.

This is the first time the college football show is headed to Blacksburg since 2007. College GameDay was on site when Virginia Tech opened the season against Tennessee in 2016, but that game was at Bristol Motor Speedway.

No. 13 Virginia Tech will host the No. 2 team in the country at 8 p.m. on Saturday. GameDay will be on ESPN at 9 a.m.

Virginia Tech football lands first commit for 2019 recruiting class

This is a big week coming up for Virginia Tech football. And to kick off the week, the Hokies landed their first commitment for the 2019 recruiting class.

Standing at 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds, Jahad Carter is classified as an athlete at 247Sports, but doesn’t have any star ranking according to the site. Carter attends Henrico High School in Richmond, Va.

Virginia Tech, not yet rated in the 2019 recruiting class composite rankings, has 19 commits for the 2018 recruiting class, which is ranked 26th nationally and fourth in the ACC.
