Regarding Ron Coleman’s letter “Hard to improve economy, environment at same time” (July 24):
I strongly disagree. In their new book, “Climate of Hope,” Michael Bloomberg and Carl Pope cite the U.S. Department of Energy’s report that from “2008-2016, the costs dropped 41 percent for wind, 64 percent for solar and as much as 94 percent for LED lights.” And, in 2015, “clean energy investment outpaced oil and gas investments for the first time.”
Clean-energy industries will be the ones creating the new jobs, which can help the economy while helping reduce polluting-energy industries.
