CM felicitates 36 Start Up entrepreneurs from C’garh

Google partnered with State Govt for strengthening the Start-up system
Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh on Sunday felicitated 36 Start Up entrepreneurs from Chhattisgarh at a function organised by Department of Commerce and Industries under the Start-Up Chhattisgarh Grand Challenge scheme.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the “36 Inc.” – state’s only incubator sanctioned under Atal Innovation Mission. All these 36 entrepreneurs and their Start-Up companies have been short-listed by the Central Government.
The CM later visited the exhibition organised under the Start-Up initiative, where he personally interacted with the Start-ups at their stalls during the exhibit. The Start-ups showcased their product, technology and services during the event. It is worth mentioning here that Start-Up Chhattisgarh scheme was initiated in September 2016 after PM Modi launched the Start-Up India initiative.
The programme was chaired by Commerce and Industries Minister Amar Agrawal, was attended by Chaggan Lal Mundra Chairman CSIDC as Special Guest. Chief Secretary Vivek Dhand, ACS N Baijendra Kumar and Principal Secretary Aman Kumar Singh also graced the occasion.
Addressing the august gathering, Dr Raman Singh said this initiative strengthens PM Narendra Modi’s vision of Start-up India which aims at fostering entrepreneurship and promoting innovation by creating an ecosystem that is conducive for growth of startups.
Recognising that the new Startup wave is a major job creator and the agent of change for prosperity, he said the Chhattisgarh government is committed to promote new ideas to become established ventures by developing a conductive Startup ecosystem.
The Chief Minister while adding that there are great possibilities for Start Ups in Chhattisgarh, he said the state government will provide all necessary policy, technical and financial assistances to such Start Ups. He said there is no dearth of young entrepreneurs in Chhattisgarh and there is a positive environment here for them. He further added that the Chhattisgarh government has taken initiative by roping in global companies so that necessary technical and financial assistance can be extended to the Start Ups here. In this direction, first to come is Google, which is providing free cloud facility worth $20,000 to these 36 Start Ups companies. Similarly, it will be providing free cloud facility worth $3000 to the remaining 3822 Start Up ideas from the state.
Under the 1st phase of the “Start-up Chhattisgarh Grand Challenge” programme, boot camps were conducted across all 27 districts of the State. The boot camps were used as a platform for youth/entrepreneurs to submit their ideas and the best out of them were selected in the first phase, for incubation. A total of 3,858 ideas were submitted out of which 36 have been selected by the screening committee formed under the Department of Commerce & Industry. In line with the Start-up India Action plan, the Chhattisgarh Government launched Start-up Chhattisgarh Action Plan for promoting start-ups in the state, which was released by Chief Minister last year along with the roll-out of the Start-up Chhattisgarh Programme.
The Chief Minister further stated that Chhattisgarh has been a flag bearer in implementing programmes and schemes to reach the growing population of the State, through various verticals i.e. Skill Development, Digital India (Bastar Net, Digital Payments), and Entrepreneurship promotion (Startup India and Stand-up India). Dr Singh further encouraged youths and lauded the efforts of Start-ups and mentioned that youths need to be fearless to bring their ideas into commercial products.
He talked about his journey as the Chief Minister of the State and how he had to resort to innovations to attain the aspirations of citizens of the state. He said that his Government is committed to make ‘Start-up Chhattisgarh’ a grand success in the State and would extend full support to develop the enabling ecosystem for Start-ups in the State. The programme had august presence of Amar Agrawal, Industries Minister, who boosted the morale of Startup winners at the event by appreciating the youths and suggested that the zeal of entrepreneurship will take the State forward in its journey towards social and economic development. Agrawal also congratulated the Startups for being selected under 36 Inc.
Vivek Dhand, Chief Secretary while addressing the gathering of budding entrepreneurs said that there is an emerging need of startups to provide new technology and innovation. Alarmelmangai D, Director Industries during her welcome address mentioned that state is committed towards promoting new ideas and congratulated all the short-listed Startups to be part of Chhattisgarh Startup Grand Challenge journey. During the event Chhagan Lal Mundra, Chairman, CSIDC; N Baijendra Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary, Aman Singh, Principal Secretary, IT and was also present.
