Color-ingredients manufacturer Roha (Mumbai) announced that it has acquired New Foods Industry S.p.A, an Italy-based company specializing in dry and dehydrated ingredients for the food and beverage industries. Roha says that the acquisition—its third in 2017—will allow it to further consolidate its position in the food ingredients business “with synergistic, innovating ingredients.”

According to Roha, the merger of the two companies represents a joining of similar business philosophies and business segments. Of particular interest is New Foods’ GardenFresh product range of dried fruit and vegetable ingredients, which it says are produced through “advanced drying technologies.” The company says that its ingredients are characterized by a preserved freshness and add color, flavor, and nutritional value to a diverse range of applications. In addition, New Foods’ location near the Verona region of Italy is also an asset, it says, as it is “one of the most abundant and diverse agricultural areas in Europe” and in close proximity to many natural raw materials.

Brijesh Tibrewala, director, Roha, commented on the acquisition in a press release: “The acquisition of New Foods, while bringing Roha into the segment of dehydrated natural ingredients, gets the [Roha] Group even closer to its customers with a complementary offer positioned around its color original focus. Coupling ranges will allow Roha leverage abundant opportunities in natural market segments.”
