At the meeting of the Food Advisory Committee on Friday, the members decided to strengthen consumer forums further and create awareness among consumers on quality, weight, and retail prices of goods through information centres and clubs consisting of students.
The meeting was chaired by Joint Collector Srikesh B. Lathkar and attended by District Consumer Forum Judge Mohan Kumar, members of District FP Shop Dealers’ Association, and officials.
Electronic weighing machines
Mr. Lathkar informed dealers that electronic weighing machines to be installed shortly at all MLS points would ensure accuracy in weight.
Mr. Lathkar added that a Rythu Bazaar would be set up on 33 cents of land in Salur Municipality limits shortly.
Justice Mohan Kumar stressed on the need to create awareness among people on legislations that protect them from unscrupulous traders. District Civil Supplies Officer Shanti Kumari, RDOs S. Srinivasa Murty and B. Sudershan Dora, and others were present.
