After cutting 600 jobs in May, Cathay Pacific is in the midst of a 3-year transformation programme to improve its management and services.
Moving on from the decision to reduce headcount, the airline is planning a series of hiring activities headlined by a recruitment day for flight attendants next month on 26 August.
For Cathay Pacific employees, management committing to investing more in talent rather than cutting jobs should be a positive sign, but one disgruntled employee has a different opinion.
In a post in the Facebook group CX Secrets, an employee called for job seekers to boycott the recruitment day, arguing that an abundance of applicants would be an encouraging sign for bad management to continue to do the poor job they’ve been doing. He added that in the long run all Cathay Pacific employees and passengers will suffer.
The comment from this unhappy employee might not be the fairest, but it is a disaster for the employer brand to have staff members bad-mouth their employer like that.
The human resources department of the airline certainly has a lot of work to do to repair the relationship with employees.
