The Fijian Elections Office is receiving hundreds of responses for its first electronic recruitment process for the 2018 General Election.
Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem said the turn out and interest from the public at Kshatriya Hall in Suva was overwhelming and the computer-based system made it easier.
“It is where a person comes and enters the details directly onto our recruitment system and then sits a test on the same system,” Mr Shaneem said.
“Then the system prints out a declaration and an acknowledgment letter for that person,” he said.
Back in 2014 the elections office used the paper-based system for recruitment processes.
“This time things have changed, applicants are responsible for the data they enter and the software at the back end is going to do the verification with all the data relevant to the application.
“This is the first time in Fiji something like this is done in a mass recruitment drive whereby individuals apply electronically.”
