On Saturday, the Minister of Science and Technology, DR Ogbonnaya Onu said his ministry would partner with Yobe state Government to train youth entrepreneurs in facilitating economic recovery of the state.
The minister made this promise when he paid a courtesy visit to Governor Ibrahim Gaidam in Damaturu.
According to him, home grown technology is key to sustainable economic growth and pledged the ministry’s commitment to assist the people of the state.
The minister said the ministry would establish incubation centre to enable young entrepreneurs learn skills about small and medium enterprises.
“The ministry is committed to providing the people with skills to give them new life to be gainfully employed and to be employers of labour,’’ he said.
Onu said the ministry is working towards making Nigeria a knowledge driven economy.
Gov Gaidam responded by commending the minister for the initiative and pledged the state’s commitment to fulfil its obligations in the partnership.
He said government had provided a site for the establishment of the incubation centre.
According to the governor, the scale of damage done to public and private structures was enormous for government alone to handle.
“We appreciate the interventions made by government and non-governmental organisations in our resettlement, reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts,” he said.
