Five-star prospect includes North Carolina in top 12

Class of 2019 prospect Scottie Lewis names North Carolina in top 12

North Carolina head coach Roy Williams recently visited a pair of elite class of 2019 prospects in Scottie Lewis and Bryan Antoine. Less than a week later, Lewis named the Tar Heels as one of the dozen teams in his top 12.

Lewis, a five-star prospect and junior at Ranney School in Tinton Falls, New Jersey, unveiled his top 12 on Saturday night via Twitter.

In the tweet, Lewis thanked all of the schools that have shown interest him throughout his recruitment as well as the people who have helped him along the way. He also noted that his top 12 is comprised of the schools that he feels will best accommodate him from an academic and athletic standpoint.

As for the teams in his top 12, Lewis named Colgate, Duke, Florida, Harvard, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, Seton Hall, Stanford, St. Johns and Villanova.

Lewis, a 6-foot-5, 177-pound small forward, is an athletic wing with good speed and leaping ability. He’s a good ball handler and rebounder, particularly for his position. He’s excellent on the fast break, and finishes well in traffic, and above the rim. He can hit shots from all over the court and his game should translate nicely to the college level.

Lewis is currently the No. 6 prospect in the class of 2019 according to the 247Sports Composite. He’s the No. 1 small forward in the class and the top player in the state of New Jersey.

He’s received more than 20 scholarship offers, including ones from Arizona, Connecticut, Duke, Florida, Kansas, Kentucky, Notre Dame and Villanova.

It’s worth noting that Lewis and Antoine are still considering the possibility teaming up at the collegiate level.

“Bryan and I are still talking about the possibility of us going to school together,” Lewis told Adam Zagoria. “We just don’t know yet,”

The two players hold scholarship offers from many of the same schools, and while the Tar Heels are yet to extend an offer, it’s fairly safe to assume that it will happen in the coming weeks.

Stick with Keeping It Heel as we continue to follow the recruitment of Lewis an Antoine, as well as the rest of the class of 2019.
