GIMPA School of Technology partners with Chinese Tech University

As part of its effort to be the centre of excellence in electronic science and technology, the GIMPA School of Technology has partnered with University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC).

The partnership is to provide a unique platform to expand the collaboration which already exists between the two institutions.

Acting Dean of the GIMPA School of Technology, Dr Joseph Adjei revealed this at the sidelines of a workshop on Cryptography and Software Engineering by some professors from UESTC in Accra.

He indicated that, as part of the partnership, there would be student and faculty exchange programmes and joint research collaboration.

Dr Joseph Adjei stressed that they want to tap the knowledge of their Chinese counterparts “to be at the forefront when it comes to the leveraging of the power of computing in Ghana.”

He also revealed that GIMPA together with four other institutions have partnership UESTC to establish a joint Centre for West African Studies in Ghana. 

Dr. Adjei is to provide a unique platform to expand the collaboration which already exists between these Universities and also allow Professors from these universities with similar research interest to publish papers and supervise PhDs together.

He was convinced the partnership will boost the schools drive in developing technologies to solve societal needs.

The leader of the Chinese delegation, Prof. Zhiguang was elated at the partnership would help build the capacity of both students and staff of the GIMPA School of Technology.

He projected that the partnership would further improve the relationship between the tertiary institutions in the partnership, while furthering research in the various field of study, particularly in science and technology.

Prof. Zhiguang was hopeful that the joint efforts will yield more contributions and promote cooperation between China and Ghana.
