As many as 1,200 business delegates and 300 entrepreneurs from the US, India and other countries are expected to participate in the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) to be held in Hyderabad from November 28 to 30. US President Donald Trump’s daughter and adviser Ivanka Trump will lead an American delegation at the summit, a US official said in New Delhi on Thursday. Although the official didn’t confirm it, it’s speculated Prime Minister Narendra Modi would also attend the event. The fact that the GES, primarily a US initiative, is being held in India for the first time, reflects the growing partnership between the world’s oldest and largest democracies.
The lists of entrepreneurs and senior executives of companies who are going to attend are still being prepared, said the US official, when asked to name some of them. However, large corporations, including Microsoft, Apple, Google, Facebook and Cisco, had participated in the previous summit, held in the US. A similar representation of large corporations is expected this year as well, he said.
In a tweet last week, Modi had said: “Look forward to Ivanka Trump’s presence at GES 2017 Hyderabad as the leader of the US delegation.” “The Summit is a unique opportunity for bringing together entrepreneurs and start ups with global leaders.” He said India and the US will co-host the GES.

The theme of the summit is ‘Women First, Prosperity for All’. “We hope to have women represent at least 50% of entrepreneurs and investors,” the US official said.
The GES will focus on areas such as energy and infrastructure; healthcare and life sciences; financial technology in digital economy; media and entrepreneurship and possibly, agriculture and agricultural entrepreneurship. “The GES will showcase how the US and India are increasingly beginning to converge on different aspects,” the US official said, adding that the bilateral ties are doing quite well. The summit is also a chance to reinforce our increasing cooperation on entrepreneurship and technology,” he said.
