LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -
It’s a make or break season with contracts on the line for Kliff Kingsbury and the Red Raiders as they open their season vs. Eastern Washington, Saturday at 3 p.m.
After a long back and forth, Tech was able to take the first score of the game with about 1:50 left in the game. In the second quarter of the game Eastern Washington lead the team to near the end zone, but came up short forcing them to kick a field goal.
But after getting the ball back, quarterback Nic Shimonek threw a 75-yard pass to Derrick Willies to allow him in the end zone. With around 6 minutes left in the second quarter, Shimonek gave the ball to Keke Coutee, who was able to make a 68-yard run for a third touchdown.
And with 4 minutes left in the second quarter Eastern Washington was able to make it into the end zone, after some interference from officials. But with less than a minute left, Tech’s Coutee brought in another 17-yard touchdown.
