The KPSC on June 23, 2017, had issued a notification for filling up 3,376 posts including those of 309 principals at government-run residential schools.
However, 32 members of the Residential Education Society Employees Association filed a petition stating that according to C&R rules, 50% of the posts should be filled up by promoting the existing staff. However, the KPSC, without considering this, issued the notification. Hence, the high court has to declare the KPSC notification null and void, the members had appealed.
After the primary hearing, the single-bench of Justice K N Phaneendra, granted an interim stay on the notification and adjourned the hearing. Advocates V M Sheelvanth and K S Patil appeared for the petitioners.
