Herd’s Knight wins C-USA honor | Marshall Sports

IRVING, Texas – Marshall freshman Lewis Knight continued his hot start to his first season with the Herd men’s soccer team.

On Monday, it was announced that Knight was this week’s recipient of the Conference USA Men’s Soccer Player of the Week award.

It was the Thundering Herd’s first men’s soccer award for the 2017 season.

Knight’s honor comes after a successful weekend in which he tallied a pair of goals to raise his team lead in that department to seven. No one else has more than two goals for the Herd, who have a total of 13 goals on the season.

Knight’s first goal came just minutes into the Herd’s 3-0 win over Eastern Illinois while his second goal came in a different role – as a spark off the bench.

Knight entered the game in the 48th minute and scored the Herd’s first goal during a 2-1 win over Conference USA foe South Carolina.

Knight’s seven goals have him in third in the NCAA in goals.
