Hitachi to sell escalators to Southeast Asia, Middle East, India- Nikkei Asian Review

TOKYO — Hitachi, along with its subsidiary Hitachi Building Systems, plans to sell its new TX series escalators in Southeast Asia, India and the Middle East.

The TX series is the companies’ standard model for international markets.

The companies launched the new escalators in China in June.

With the addition of the new overseas markets, Hitachi hopes to increase annual orders for the new escalators to 10,000 units in fiscal 2018.

The sides of the escalator’s steps are raised 8mm to keep people’s shoes from getting caught in the space between the steps and the balustrades.

Brushes have been attached at the foot of the balustrades to warn people when their feet are near them.

The distance between the edges of the escalators are 15cm shorter than previous models, which allows for more flexible installation.
