PHOENIX, Ariz. – Olivia Hutchison’s journey to become Miss Teen USA came to an end Saturday night at the final competition in Phoenix, Arizona.
After progressing to the top 15 of the 51 contestants, Hutchison, a Huntington High graduate, competed in the athletic wear competition alongside the other 14 finalists. Among the Top 15 were the Miss Teen contestants from Arizona, California, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Missouri, Nevada, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia and Wyoming.
However, Hutchison was not selected to continue in the Top 5 round. Ultimately, Miss Missouri contestant Sophia Dominguez-Heithoff was crowned as 2017 Miss Teen USA. Vanessa Matheson of Oregon was runner-up.
In an earlier interview, Hutchison said that whatever the outcome, she was happy.
“Whether I win or lose, after the competition I still get to be Miss West Virginia Teen USA,” she said. Hutchison is planning to begin her freshman year at Marshall University in the fall.
