Hyde Park politics a case of trading places

Jennie Christensen

You might say there is some trading places going on in Hyde Park this election year. The current mayor wants to be a member of the city council, and a city council member wants to be the mayor.

Current Mayor Bob Christensen, who took the job on a temporary basis, is now running for city council. There are three other council candidates: Gerald Osborn, Phil Collins and Charles Wheeler. Two council members will be elected. Eric Hansen and Randy Glover were not selected to proceed to the general election in November.

There is just one candidate for mayor and that is Shara Dean Flint who is currently a member of the city council.

Candidates for political positions in Hyde Park are selected by nominating convention. No primary election was held.
