IHSS holding recruitment session for caregivers

The Department of Health and Social Services, In-Home Support Services (IHSS) Public Authority will host their final paid caregiver recruitment session for this calendar year on Wednesday at 2101 Courage Drive in Fairfield in the multipurpose room at 1:30 p.m.

The Public Authority uses a customized database to match the needs of Solano County IHSS clients with pre-qualified Registry Home Care Providers. There is still a significant need for more caregivers, especially in the cities of Benicia, Dixon and Vacaville — as the demand for services for the elderly and disabled populations continue to grow. Anyone who is passionate about working with people with special needs and enjoys the flexibility of setting their own schedules is encouraged to attend the recruitment session and apply to be a caregiver.

“We’re working on scheduling IHSS care giver recruitment sessions for 2018, but that is still several months away — so we’re encouraging those who want to start working right away to attend the October 4 session,” says Teri Ruggiero, Solano County Public Authority Administrator. “Individuals with paramedical skills, including wound care, respiratory care, injections, g-tubes and catheters are desired, as well as those with the skills and desire to work with bed-bound seniors and the disabled.”

The Registry is seeking qualified individual who meet the following minimum criteria, including:

• Able to work in the United States and possesses a government issued ID and Social Security card;

• Ability to pass a criminal background check for the IHSS program;

• Willingness to assist consumers with toileting, bathing and other personal care needs;

• Professional with excellent communication skills, flexible, team player and multi-tasker.

To start the process of becoming an in-home health care provider, attend the recruitment session. No appointment is necessary. Do not bring children and be on time, as people who are late will be turned away.
