Jacobs to buy CH2M to form an energy engineering giant
August 2, 2017
Jacobs Engineering Group said it’s buying Denver’s CH2M Hill for $2.85 billion to create one of the world’s largest energy engineering firms.
Jacobs, which relocated from California to Dallas last year, said the deal aims to form a juggernaut in engineering and construction services for the energy, petrochemical and government sectors.
The acquisition would give Jacobs added strength in the water, transportation and nuclear sectors worldwide, which are key niches for CH2M.
The deal would create a combined company of more than 70,000 workers, adding 20,000 people to Jacobs’ global team of almost 54,000 employees.
