LEO Louth seek counties’ best young entrepreneurs – ThisIsArdee.ie

Have a great idea? Run a start-up or established business? The Local Enterprise Office Louth are seeking county-based entries to this year’s Ireland’s Best Entrepreneur competition.

Open to people aged under 35 years, the competition seeks the very best of business and entrepreneurship in Louth – and nationwide.

“Louth has a great track record in this competition. And now we’re looking for young people from Louth to participate in the 2018 competition,” Sarah Mallon of LEO Louth said.

Drogheda’s Roisin Hogan, who runs her Hiro healthy ready meals start-up, reached last year’s national finals and she ended up winning second prize in the Best Start-Up category. Her products are currently appearing on supermarket shelves across Ireland and the UK too.

Mark Reilly of Aphix Software, whose innovative online stock management platform recently announced the creation of 25 new jobs in Drogheda, is another local succcess story who has graced the national finals of the IBYE competition while Margaret Robb of Sweet Little Babies in Dundalk is a past winner of the Best-Established Business category in Louth.

Those interested in entering the competition at local level – and perhaps advancing to regional and national finals – must simply complete a simple online application form before shortlisted entrants are invited to participate in boot-camps to help them develop their business.

Participants then submit their business plan and are interviewed. LEO Louth will then name a winner in three categories and distribute prize fund of €50,000 to invest in the winners and runners up. County winners go forward to regional Finals and, if successful, to the National Finals which take place at Google HQ in Dublin next March.

“The closing date for applications is Friday 29th September,” Sarah said this week. “The process is simple and takes about 15-20 minutes. The team in Local Enterprise Office Louth are here to help if you have any questions. You can find out more by visiting www.ibye.ie.

“And don’t forget, if you know a young person with a great idea, or their own business please do encourage them to get involved. Your encouragement might be just what they need to get started.”
