Lions player hits back at fans who abused him on social media following New Zealand tour

Lions star James Haskell has hit out at two rugby fans who took to social media to post derogatory remarks about him.

The England back row man responded to the pair on his Instagram account after one New Zealand based female fan had labelled him arrogant and another male supporter branded him an ‘absolute c**k’.

Haskell wrote that the two were ‘negative potholes’ and said that he had gone out of his way to have his photo taken with the female fan who the New Zealand Herald reports had been in New Zealand for the duration of the tour.

“That’s funny, took my time to have a photo with you and meet your friends,” wrote Haskell.

The Wasps powerhouse then went on to use more forceful language, adding that the female ‘drove the lads mad’ with ‘inane pestering’.

As for the male fan, Haskell wrote that ‘he looks like he still lives with his mum’.

The player added: “You two are what’s wrong with social media. You are both negative potholes and should be avoided at all costs.”

Haskell is one of the most popular rugby players on social media. He has a Twitter following in excess of 163,000, while 213,000 follow his Instagram account.
