CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Cleveland Indians’ historic winning streak may be over, but the internet’s reaction to it will live on forever.
From fancy defense by Jay Bruce and Francisco Lindor to Jose Ramirez’s ridiculous head-high home run, and even Eric Hosmer’s salty response to closing out the streak, there was plenty for Twitter to talk about.
Most importantly, the Cleveland Indians shared a special moment with fans when they emerged from the dugout to salute those who came to the ballpark to witness their historic run.
Here’s a look back at some of the best social media responses to Friday’s game.
1. Long live the streak
The streak is over! The Royals snap the Indians 22-game win streak, 2nd-longest in MLB history. It was a dominant run for Cleveland. pic.twitter.com/hgFWVyvpiC

Watching the whole Indians team come out of the dugout and salute the fans after the streak ended was totally classy and gave me goosebumps!

Get me a shirt that says “2017 Cleveland @indians: Longest MLB Win Streak.” I’ll fight anyone that says otherwise. #RallyTogether

If the Indians followed last night’s loss with another 22-game winning streak, that would take them through Game 1 of the World Series.

2. Hosmer salty?
“F*CK THAT STREAK”

Eric Hosmer should realize that even though we won 22 in a row that the royals are still in contention for….oh wait that’s right #Royals

Remind Eric Hosmer Cleveland beat Kansas City 4x in the 22 game win streak. [?] [?] [?]

3. Leadoff double for Lindor
The Indians’ last 4 hits are doubles: Lindor in the 9th inning last night, Ramirez and Bruce in the 10th inning, Lindor in 1st inning today

Francisco Lindor is just the 2nd player in #Indians history to get an XBH in 9 straight games within the same season (Hal Trotsky — 1934).

4. Jose Ramirez’s homer in the third
There is no stopping Jose Ramirez right now. 9th HR in 15 games. He’s 5-6 in the series. It’s 3-1 Indians over #Royals in the 3rd:

Busy with work. Look up. @MrLapara circling the bags. Laughed because every time they need a knock, he’s up and gets one. Every. Time. pic.twitter.com/IS4VLkU4KO

5. Ramirez error then two nifty defensive plays
Jai Alai Lindor there w/ glove flip after a great pick by Yandy!
If KC gives us chance to strike, I’m inclined to think Tribe finds a way
— Kirk (@TeedUpKirk) September 16, 2017
Half a point to Lindor for coming out of nowhere with the glove flip.

Bad play by Ramirez followed by two gems from Diaz, Lindor. #Indians

Yandy’s really looked solid with the glove since he came back.

6. Jay Bruce’s sliding catch
Jay Bruce looks like my accountant making sliding catches in right field.
