Season objectives for the returning Ilkay Gundogan and a long-running transfer rumour feature in Wednesday’s look at the back pages.
The German midfielder – who was back amongst the substitutes against Spurs in Nashville – has spoken to FourFourTwo about what he wants to achieve in the forthcoming campaign.
“At the moment [my aim] is simply to get fully fit as fast as possible and get back to the level that I was at before my injury – and then maybe get even better,” Gundogan told the magazine.
“I just want to be fit and be able to end the season, and then play for Germany at the World Cup.
“There is a lot for me to look forward to and it’s all really exciting. Hopefully it will be a good year.”
Meanwhile, Alexis Sanchez’s future is again making headlines, this time in the Daily Mail, who have an update on the forward’s situation following his return to Arsenal training.
Sami Mobkel pens the story, which reads: “Sportsmail understands the South American left his colleagues under no illusion of his preference to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer as he arrived back to their Hertforshire HQ on Tuesday.
“Manchester City and Paris Saint Germain are leading the chase for Sanchez, with the player preferring a move to the Etihad.
“But manager Arsene Wenger reiterated to Sanchez on Tuesday that he will not be sold – and certainly not to an English club.”
That’s your lot for Wednesday, Blues. We’ll be back with more of the same tomorrow.
