Men’s Hockey – Wisconsin Athletics

PLYMOUTH, Mich. — While the Wisconsin men’s hockey team does not hit the ice for two more months, the four Badgers taking part in the 2017 World Junior Summer Showcase at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan, could have up to six games of international play under their belts this summer before returning to Madison.

Incoming freshman Tyler Inamoto stands as the lone Badger on USA White while USA Blue features incoming freshman Sean Dhooghe and rising sophomores Trent Frederic and JD Greenway, who was added to the evaluation camp roster on Sunday.

The now 44-player roster, with the additions of Greenway and Boston University’s David Farrance, serves as the pool from which USA Hockey will select the team to defend its gold medal at the 2018 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship.

On Saturday, the first day of competition, Inamoto and USA White skated to a 4-2 victory over Finland while USA Blue fell, 4-3, to Sweden after a late-game rally. Dhooghe scored a first-period goal while registering a team-high five shots on goal.

USA dominated play on Sunday as White picked up a 4-3 victory over Sweden and Blue defeated Finland, 4-1. Frederic notched three shots on net and assisted the eventual game-winner for USA Blue.

After taking an off day, the teams return to the ice on Tuesday with USA White facing Canada Red at 4 p.m. before USA Blue and Canada White square off at 7 p.m.
