Michelle Wie is rocking bedazzled U.S.A shoes at the Solheim Cup

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — This week in golf features one of the sport’s most exciting events: The Solheim Cup, a bi-annual Ryder Cup-style event between Europe and the U.S.

The lead-up to the event has been rocked by two unfortunate bouts of injury news: First on the U.S. side, when Jessica Korda pulled out of the event, and then on the European side, when Suzann Pettersen revealed a back injury would keep her out of the event.

But the tournament will go on nevertheless, which is good news, because otherwise we’d be deprived of some A+ fashion stylings from Michelle Wie. Wie tends to go all-out U.S.A for this event. There’s the hair…

It remains to be seen whether she’ll actually wear them during the event (“I took them out to the range and they were very bright,” she said), so she’s also lined-up a more toned-down version.

Wie talked about the shoes before the start of the tournament:

“The bling shoes, I love them…I want to be as respectful to the European team. And I think this is such a fun week. I think this is such a great week to be energetic. I think both sides — it’s different from a normal LPGA event.”

She continued:

“I love to do things with my hair. Even if it wasn’t Solheim I’d probably do something like with my hair. I like to have fun. Meg Mallon told me don’t try to hide your personality; don’t try to tone it down. Be who you are and embrace it. Life is too short to try and suppress your emotions and your feelings, and you just really gotta enjoy every second of it.”
