Michigan Tech ROTC assists flood victims

HOUGHTON, Mich. (WLUC) – The Michigan Tech Air Force ROTC is sending assistance to flood victims in Texas.

An Air Force detachment near the flooded region reached out to the MTU Air Force ROTC asking for donations.

MTU Air Force ROTC is now accepting non-perishable donations.

For one officer, this disaster assistance hits close to home.

“I was 15 when hurricane Andrew destroyed my house growing up so I know how these people feel. Anything to make you feel more human goes a long way. We’re here collecting any type of non-perishables, canned-good foods, any type of toothpaste, mouthwash, that kind of thing,” said Sergeant Paul Creelman.

Non-perishable items can be dropped off at the MTU ROTC building.

They will be accepted until September 12.

All donations will be sent directly to the Texas Air Force detachment and distributed to victims from there.
