Most large companies plan to increase recruitment in the second half of this year, according to a survey released on Monday.
The Korea Economic Research Institute surveyed Korea’s top 500 companies. Of 209 companies that responded to the survey, 22 percent said they plan to hire more new employees than last year, while 53 percent said they would recruit a similar number. About 19 percent said they would hire fewer.
Nearly half want to boost their headcounts, as they believe the economy will continue to pick up modestly despite North Korea’s latest nuclear test.
In a similar survey last year, only 55.7 percent had a plan to hire new graduates, but the figure soared to 72.8 percent this year.
