New faces at Shawsheen Tech

BILLERICA — Shawsheen Valley Technical High School welcomed 10 new teachers, two teacher aides and a new member of the dean of students’ staff. A number of former teachers retired last spring, creating opportunities for the new group of instructors.


Kim Barriss of North Reading graduated from Shawsheen Tech in 2012 and returns to teach Biology.

Shawn Andersen of Tewksbury resident will work with the dean of students.

Ali Belkus of Lawrence is teaching Spanish.

Sara Belson, a long-term substitute last year, is back full time in the English Department.

Bryan Ibbitson of Peabody is teaching History and will join the Shawsheen Tech athletic staff as the freshman football coach.

Robert McIsaac, a Wilmington resident and Shawsheen Tech graduate, has joined the Social Science faculty as a History teacher.

Vanessa Valentin of Billerica is teaching Biology in the Special Education Department.


Tanya ┬║Baron and Tina Collins form the backbone of the Electronics/Robotics shop faculty, and they will be assisted in part by Alexis Clement, who joins the staff as a teaching assistant in the Pre-Engineering program, aka Project Lead the Way.

Mary Carroll of Burlington will teach Business Technology.

Dennis Ford joins the Construction Program as an instructor in the Plumbing shop.

Stephanie DiCecca has been working as a teacher aide in the Welding shop for the past year and secure a full-time position in Metal Fabrication this year.
