BHUBANESWAR: Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday urged the finance community to go beyond taxation system and contribute to create a new business or entrepreneur model for Odisha to see it as a prosperous State.
Addressing the valedictory ceremony of National CA Conference 2017 organised by Odisha chapter of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Pradhan said he is hopeful of a better socio-economic environment and a new entrepreneurship ecosystem which can make Odisha a manufacturing hub and create new opportunities.
“Despite having a great legacy of entrepreneurship and maritime trade link to different countries, there is a missing link. Be it minerals, metals, natural resources, workforce and ideal locations, everything is available in the State. We have to develop a new entrepreneurship ecosystem. New India is not possible without new Odisha,” he said.
The Minister suggested to the CA fraternity to think beyond singular topics like GST and demonetisation and urged the CA fraternity to focus more on the overall growth of the State as well as the country. “The year 2016-17 will be one of the milestone years for Indian economy. India has to come up as a big economy,” he said.
Pradhan said Bhubaneswar is emerging as a vibrant city and the need of the hour is to create a new model which can be known as Odisha model. India is moving ahead and being a coastal State, Odisha is in an advantageous position, he added.
