Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said Pakistan is a safe country for foreign investment.
He was addressing a luncheon hosted in his honor by Pak-US Business Council in New York.
He said it is very unfortunate that perception presented by foreign media about Pakistan is quite different to that of reality.
The Prime Minister said Pakistan has rendered unmatched sacrifices in the war on terror and security situation has greatly improved in the country. He said Pakistan has successfully eliminated the bases of terrorists inside the country.
He said billions of rupees are being spent on development of basic infrastructure and economy of the country has improved exceptionally.
He said China-Pakistan Economic Corridor provides opportunities to world companies to come and invest in Pakistan. He said US companies can also take advantage of these opportunities by investing in Pakistan.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said he met US President Donald Trump at a reception and discussed with him regional issues.
He said Mr Trump was very positive about Pakistan’s role and the continuity of Pak-US partnership to fight terror. He said Pakistan is also working with Afghanistan for peace and security in the region.
He said we are also working with Central Asian countries in energy sectors. He said CASA-1000 will import electricity from Tajikistan and Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline will bring gas to meet the energy requirements of the regional countries. He said these projects also offer greater regional connectivity.
He emphasized the need for having deeper and more broad based trade and investment relations between Pakistan and the United States.
He enumerated the economic achievements of Pakistan with highest real GDP growth of the last ten years achieved during the last financial year. He also highlighted the steps taken to address the energy deficit facing the country and stated that situation had markedly improved.
