CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Police on Saturday registered a case against unknown persons for duping public by putting up false social media post about recruitment in the state police department.

A police spokesperson said no such advertisement or announcement has been made by the Punjab Police for recruitment or employment of any cadre in the force for the current year.

He added that the fake post was put on the social media only to lure the youth for usurping money from them and cheat the government. The police have advised the general public to disregard such fraudulent messages or posts and to inform the nearest police station or police officer if any person claims or assures for any such employment.

A case has been registered at the state cyber crime wing of Punjab Police at Mohali in this regard for forgery, cheating and under the information technology Act for further investigation.
