Polymerupdate News – Polypropylene (PP) prices journey north in Asia

PP prices journeyed northward in Asia this week. Prices firmed in tandem with higher upstream costs Strong demand trends coupled with bullish PP futures on the Dalian Commodity Exchange in China.

CFR Far East Asia prices of PP raffia and PP injection were assessed up at the USD 1110/mt levels, a week on week spike of USD 40/mt. PP film prices were assessed at the USD 1130/mt levels while BOPP prices were also assessed at the USD 1130/mt levels, both up USD 40/mt from the previous week. PP block copolymer prices were assessed higher at the USD 1150/mt levels, a sharp gain of USD 40/mt on the week.

In China, a Middle Eastern producer has concluded deals for PP raffia and PP injection grades at the USD 1110/mt levels, for shipment in September 2017, on a CFR China Main port basis.

In South East Asia (SEA), PP raffia and PP injection prices were assessed higher at the USD 1130/mt CFR levels, a week on week increase of USD 10/mt. PP film prices were assessed at the USD 1150/mt levels while BOPP prices were also at the USD 1150/mt levels, both up USD 10/mt from the previous week. PP block copolymer prices were assessed higher at the USD 1170/mt CFR levels, a rise of USD 10/mt on the week.

In Vietnam, a Middle Eastern producer has sealed deals for PP raffia and PP injection grades at the USD 1130/mt levels, for shipment in September 2017, on a CFR HCM port basis.

In Bangladesh, PP raffia and PP injection prices were assessed up at the USD 1150/mt CFR levels, a rise of USD 5/mt on the week. PP film prices were assessed at the USD 1170/mt CFR levels while BOPP prices were also assessed the USD 1170/mt CFR levels, both up USD 10/mt from the previous week. PP block copolymer prices were steady at the USD 1190/mt CFR levels.

In Pakistan, PP raffia and PP injection prices were assessed higher at the USD 1140/mt CFR levels, a gain of USD 10/mt on the week. PP film prices were assessed at the USD 1160/mt CFR levels while BOPP prices were assessed also the USD 1160/mt CFR levels, both up USD 5/mt from the previous week. PP block copolymer prices were up at the USD 1190/mt CFR levels, a week on week rise of USD 5/mt.

In Sri Lanka, PP raffia and PP injection prices were assessed higher at the USD 1160/mt CFR levels, a gain of USD 10/mt on the week. PP film prices were assessed at the USD 1170/mt CFR levels while BOPP prices were also assessed at the USD 1170/mt CFR levels, both up USD 10/mt from the previous week. PP block copolymer prices were higher at the USD 1200/mt CFR levels, a week on week rise of USD 10/mt.

In India, PP raffia and PP injection prices were assessed steady at the USD 1130/mt CFR levels. PP film prices were assessed at the USD 1150/mt CFR levels while BOPP prices were also at the USD 1150/mt CFR levels, both unchanged from the previous week. PP block copolymer prices were flat at the USD 1160/mt CFR levels.

In India, Orpic, Oman has offered its PP raffia and PP injection grades at the USD 1140/mt levels. Tasnee, Saudi Arabia has also offered its PP raffia and PP injection grades at the USD 1120/mt levels, for shipment in September 2017.

Feedstock propylene prices on Wednesday were assessed at the USD 935/mt CFR China levels, a rise of USD 20/mt from the previous week. FOB Korea prices of propylene were assessed at the USD 875/mt levels, a week on week increase of USD 5/mt.
