This figure compares with an increase of 5.5pc in the twelve months to June 2016.
House prices in Dublin alone rose by 11.2pc with apartments jumping by 10.6pc over the same period.
The highest house price growth recorded was in south Dublin (11.8pc) while the lowest growth was noted in Fingal (5.4pc).
House prices outside of Dublin rose by 11.8pc over the period, while apartment prices increased 13.4pc.
The South-East region showed the greatest price growth (16.7pc) and the Mid-West region showed the least price growth (8.4pc)
Dublin residential property prices are still 29.9pc lower than their February 2007 peak, while residential property prices in the Rest of Ireland are 34.6pc lower than their May 2007 peak.
Since early 2013, prices nationally have increased by 58.4pc. In the same period, Dublin residential property prices have increased 73.8pc whilst residential property prices in the Rest of Ireland are 50.4pc higher.
