Qatar University’s event familiarises students with entrepreneurship skills

The Center for Entrepreneurship (CFE) at Qatar University College of Business and Economics (QU-CBE) organised and hosted the “Entrepreneurship Day 2017” on February 22, aimed at introducing QU students to entrepreneurship and at familiarising them with the various services and activities provided by CFE.
The event, which was sponsored by the Commercial Bank of Qatar, was attended by CBE Dean Dr Khalid Shams M A Al-Abdulqader, CFE Director Dr Mahmoud Abdellatif, and AGM Head of Sadara Commercial Bank Ms Bouchra Sebbata, and other officials from the Commercial Bank as well as CBE faculty, staff, and students.
The event’s program included an opening speech by Dr Khalid Shams M A Al-Abdulqader, a presentation on CFE activities in 2017 by Dr Mahmoud Abdellatif, entrepreneurs success stories by five entrepreneurs from QU, and an entrepreneurship feedback workshop.
It also included the distribution of awards to the winners of the three best entrepreneurship success stories. 1st place winner was QU Recruitment Specialist Mr Othman Al-Minhas for his story entitled “Xdensity”, 2nd place winner was QU Associate Professor of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Dr John-John Cabibihan for his story entitled “Tin Can Wearable Technologies”, and 3rd place winner was Fatima Jafar Qaedi for her story “QU ID”.
In his remarks, Dr Khalid Shams M A Al-Abdulqader said: “This event demonstrates the continuous efforts of Qatar University in general and the College of Business and Economics in particular to support entrepreneurship within and outside the University, and to promote the relationship between QU students and entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship institutions in Qatar.”
Commercial Bank of Qatar CEO Joseph Abraham said: “The Commercial Bank of Qatar is committed to supporting entrepreneurial projects in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the national aspirations towards a knowledge-based economy.”
