R.J. Barrett reveals recruiting and decision plans, sets 5 official visits

It hasn’t been long since R.J. Barrett reclassified into the 2018 class. However, it was a move expected for much of this year, and it looks like Barrett had a plan in advance of his move.

Despite being a 2018 recruit for just a month, Barrett is trying to get his recruitment wrapped up this fall. He’s already taking official visits starting in September, and his first visit will be with the Kentucky Wildcats, he announced on his blog Saturday night.

His visit to Kentucky is from Sept. 1-3, followed by Duke Sept. 15-17, Arizona Sept. 21-23, Oregon Sept. 23-25 and Michigan Sept. 29-Oct. 1. These are the schools who made Barrett’s final five last week, so it’s no surprise seeing them all get visits.

Usually in recruiting, you want to have the first or last visit. Most experts view this as a Duke vs Kentucky battle, so seeing him visit Kentucky first and Michigan last could be a good sign for John Calipari (or that the Wolverines are more of a threat than we realize).

Barrett also said he wants to have a decision by November and sign during the fall signing period. That means we should see decisions made by Barrett, Zion Williamson, Keldon Johnson, Immanuel Quickley and Cameron Reddish this fall. I feel really good about Kentucky coming away with three of them, setting the stage for another No. 1 or 2 recruiting class for Calipari.
