RETAIL CORRIDOR: Roosters Sunglasses, Professional Home Medication Management – News – Northwest Florida Daily News

ROOSTERS SUNGLASS

As summer visitors depart, locals feel ready to revisit favorite shopping venues.

One such location, the Silver Sands Premium Outlets, has a new shop with the Aug. 1 opening of Roosters Sunglass.

The shop offers that very item: sunglasses.

“We cater to anyone and everyone who needs sunglasses, whether for a specific outdoor activity or for style,” said Kristin VanDeWalle through an email.

VanDeWalle serves as creative and marketing director for Roosters Sunglass.

The shop is part of Sanibel Sunglass Company, headquartered in Sanibel, Florida. The parent company selected Silver Sands for its “great people, sunny weather and active outdoor lifestyles that can benefit from our excellence in the sunglass industry,” VanDeWalle said.

Roosters Sunglass carries activity-specific brands such as Costa, Maui Jim, Oakley, Hobie and more; it also offers fashion brands like RayBan, Schwood, RioRay and Q/A. Children styles are available, too.

The staff receives training to help customers find the right sunglasses for the right purpose under store manager Diane Raburn.

PROFESSIONAL HOME MEDICATION MANAGEMENT LLC

Meleta Pabel, despite her retirement, still has more to give. On July 4, she kicked off her next career; this time, she owns the business that still has ties to her professional experience.

“I retired at the end of March from 12 years of home health care,” the long-time Fort Walton Beach resident and registered nurse said.

Pabel also worked within an area hospital.

“This just came to me,” she said about PHMM. “At home health, we got phone calls all the time from patients and family members just wanting someone to help them with their medications.

“Some clients, they don’t have anybody in the area to help them with their meds,” she added.

Through PHMM, Pabel provides an initiation meeting to determine the patient’s needs; subsequent meetings maintain medication management to ensure that the patient is taking the proper dose at the proper time. She can work directly with home health care providers, with physicians and with pharmacies. Insurance doesn’t cover PHMM, but Pabel said she gives peace of mind to families.
