RMG Recruitment prides itself on offering personalised, professional recruitment services


From its establishment in March 2016, Port Elizabeth-based RMG Recruitment has gained a number of clients both locally and nationally while building a reputation for delivering on promises. 

“Due to this influx of work we have employed an additional administrator to assist with handling new applications,” explains owner and consultant, Ruth Gowar.

She explains that RMG Recruitment specialises in all areas of recruitment from your front line office staff, technical disciplines and senior management positions within the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), Manufacturing, Automotive and white collar sectors.

“We have successfully placed in multiple roles throughout South Africa including in Bedfordview, Queenstown and East London,” adds Gowar.

Still, RMG Recruitment is unlike other agencies operating in the local recruitment space.

Gowar explains; “We take great pride in offering a personal touch when dealing with clients and candidates. We take the time to listen to their needs and to look for the best fit for both.

“We also take great steps to ensure that every phone call is returned or email answered – even if it’s not good news. Our clients and candidates are handled in a respectful and professional manner at all times.”

Born in the United Kingdom, Gowar has spent most of her life in South Africa – besides living in the UK for about three years doing recruitment for various companies in Hampshire.

“I matriculated from Victoria Park Highly School and went on to do a Secretarial course through Beckley’s Secretarial College, which sadly no longer exists,” she describes. 

“I then went on to do the APSO IPSC qualification.”

She explains that she initially gained insight into recruitment whilst working as a receptionist. 

“After a number of years working in the property industry, I was given the opportunity to become a Recruitment Consultant in 2000 and I haven’t looked back since,” Gowar adds.

As a businesswoman, she says her leadership style involves engaging with her staff in a positive and motivational manner “and no issue is too small or too large to handle”.

She explains that RMG Recruitment’s motto – to deliver quality not quantity to our clients, is what has separated them from their competition and has seen them steadfastly growing.

However, the past few years have also seen new technology transforming the recruitment industry; she says they have had “to keep up with this in order to stay competitive in the industry”.

Gowar adds that in this era of LinkedIn and social media, recruitment agencies still have an important role to play in linking candidates and employers.

“Agencies take away the hassel of sourcing through multiple applications when recruiting for a role.  We also offer the additional services of reference checking, credit, criminal and qualification checks as well as having a guarantee period on our candidates,” she describes. 

“This takes the headache away from the client to concentrate on the core needs of their business.”

For women starting or running businesses in the Eastern Cape, she had this to say; “I believe as women, we need to stand together in our journey as entrepreneurs and I have met some wonderful and inspirational ladies along the way including my competitors.”
