Stavropol, Russia, Sept. 28
By Elchin Mehdiyev – Trend:
Russia’s Stavropol region can double the supply of agricultural products to Azerbaijan up to 3-4 million tons of products per year, Vladimir Vladimirov, governor of the Stavropol region, said.
Vladimirov made the remarks at the 7th Russia-Azerbaijan Interregional Forum in Stavropol Sept. 28.
At the forum the Azerbaijani delegation is led by Economy Minister Shahin Mustafayev. The delegation includes Azerbaijani MPs, heads of the country’s regions, representatives of business communities, non-government organizations, and expert communities.
“Azerbaijan is our long-term and reliable business partner,” Vladimirov said. “The total turnover [between Azerbaijan and Stavropol region] is a little over $130 million a year but I am sure that is not the limit.”
He added that tourism is one of the mutually beneficial spheres of cooperation between Stavropol and Azerbaijan.
“We are happy with an increase in the tourist flow,” he said. “More than 100,000 Azerbaijanis rest in the Caucasian Mineral Waters, which is 6 percent of the total tourist flow.”
