Six expert judges revealed to pick winners of Evening Express Retailer Awards

The judges for the Evening Express Retailer Awards 2017 can today be revealed.

Six experts make up this year’s panel, each individual boasting a wealth of knowledge and experience in the retail industry.

This year’s judges include CEO of Aberdeen Inspired Adrian Watson, director of Caber Coffee Findlay Leask and general manager of Malmaison Benjamin Bel.

The panel also includes commercial manager at the Bon Accord Centre Katherine Boyd, senior lecturer and programme leader for BA Hons International Tourism Management and International Hospitality Management at RGU Craig Leith and development manager at the Federation of Small Businesses in the North-east Catherine Ward.

Craig Walker, deputy editor of the Evening Express, will join the judging panel when they meet on August 25 at the Village Hotel at Prime Four, Kingswells.

Mr Watson said: “We are delighted to be the main sponsor for the Evening Express Retailer Awards and I would like to congratulate all of the entries and wish them good luck.

“It’s been great to see an increase in the number of entries this year and their calibre
has been incr-edibly high once again.

“The award entries have highlighted the fantastic retail offering we have in Aberdeen and it will be a tough job to whittle the list down for the finalists in each category.”

Mr Watson added: “It’s great to see the addition of a new award this year – the Union Street Champion Retailer of the Year Award – as it’s very important to recognise the retailers who are working to make a difference along the granite mile.”

The list of lucky finalists will be announced in the Evening Express on August 29.

Craig Walker said: “A diverse range of impressive businesses from all around the North-east have entered into the awards.

“It will be tough to work through the extensive list of entries to name just a few finalists in each of the 15 categories.”
