Start-ups in rural areas to be encouraged

Summary: KOCHI: Kerala Startup Mission CEO Saji Gopinath has said the State government’s entrepreneurship promotion programme will not be restricted to colleges but will also encompass start-ups in rural areas and in the social sector.
Speaking at a start-up support event organised by TiE Kerala for budding entrepreneurs, he said the government would extend support to aspiring entrepreneurs from the IT workforce.
The Mobile App Incubator in Kozhikode is a step in this direction,” Mr. Gopinath added.
“Aspiring entrepreneurs should be able to present quality ideas before investors.
Several programmes have been designed for guiding emerging entrepreneurs.

Speaking at a start-up support event organised by TiE Kerala for budding entrepreneurs, he said the government would extend support to aspiring entrepreneurs from the IT workforce. New enterprises are in urgent need of financial support, and the plan is to make a seed-funding of ?500 crore available to fresh entrepreneurs in the next two years with the support of the private sector, he said.
