AUSTIN, Texas – Two Texas Longhorns will don red, white and blue this week as they represent Team USA at the Pan American Junior Championships in Lima, Peru. Rising sophomore George Patrick will compete in the decathlon and incoming freshman Adrian “Tripp” Piperi is set to compete in the shot put.

Patrick recently earned his spot on Team USA with a win at the USATF Junior Championships that saw him dominate the competition. Piperi took silver in the shot put at USA Juniors and looks to add to UT’s success in the throwing events.

One more former Longhorn will be in Peru as well. Two-sport star and current assistant coach for the Washington Huskies, Eric Metcalf will serve as a men’s assistant coach for Team USA at the Pan Am Juniors.

Patrick will open the meet on Friday morning and conclude his 10 events on Saturday.

Piperi throws on Sunday morning where he is ranked No. 2 in the field behind his fellow American teammate.

Fans can keep up with the action with results posted by the Pan Am Junior Games online. A link to the entries and results is posted on USATF.org in the USATF’s event homepage for the meet. Other links to the live stream via Facebook and Team USA rosters are available there as well.

Updates on the Longhorns can be found on the team’s official Twitter page @TexasTFXC. Team USA will be updating its fans via @USATF.

This week’s Pan Am Junior Games begins a busy four weeks for the Longhorns. Big 12 champion Steele Wasik is set to compete for Team USA in the Thorpe Cup next week, a USA vs. Germany combined events competition. Then, the IAAF World Championships will feature a number of current and former Longhorns from London in August.
