Cheltenham’s largest retail park is set to expand.
Plans have been submitted to the borough council to build a new unit on the Gallagher Retail Park, creating a huge new shop on a piece of wasteland.
The new shop, which would sit next to the existing Next store, would cover two floors and match the others in the block.
As part of the detailed planning application new parking spaces for shoppers and staff would also be built, the new staff car park would sit behind Sainsbury’s.
The application states: “The land available to the side of the existing service yard access road, adjacent to the Next Unit is currently undeveloped and is made up of over-grown shrubs and trees. The area proposed for the staff parking area is currently unused land which is turfed.”
A new road will also be added around the side of the shop to link allow deliveries and link to the service yard at the back of the shops.
The application will be decided by Cheltenham Borough Council in the next few months.
The brand which would occupy the space isn’t yet known but we want to know what sort of shop would you like to see in the unit.
