A national group that supports law enforcement nonprofits is helping to raise money for the family of Abilene police detective Elise Ybarra, who was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on U.S. Interstate 20 on Sunday.
Ybarra and two other Abilene Police Department detectives, Christopher Kyle Milliorn, 32, and Robert Lamar Collins, 36, were traveling to Dallas in an unmarked police vehicle when another car struck theirs. All three were traveling to Dallas to attend the Crimes Against Children Conference.
Thin Blue Line USA is offering Thin Blue Line Bracelets on its website for a limited time and will donate 100 percent of all profits raised to the Abilene Police Foundation.
The fund will help support the family of Ybarra. Thin Blue Line USA has been in contact with the Abilene Police Department regarding the fundraiser.
“The loss of Detective Ybarra truly puts into perspective the work we do at Thin Blue Line USA,” said President Andrew Jacob in a statement. “Thin Blue Line USA hopes to take some of the financial burden away from her family at this difficult time.”
