Trey McGowens is a fast rising combo guard from South Carolina that has a number of programs keeping an eye on him, including the Virginia Tech Hokies. I caught up with Trey to talk about his recruitment.
What schools are sticking out right now?
Ole Miss, VCU, USF, New Mexico, UNC Charlotte, St. Bonaventure, and other schools that haven’t offered yet like Virginia Tech and NC State. There are a few others schools that aren’t on my list but could enter with an offer.
What are you looking for in a school and program?
An uptempo style of play, great player development, and a good relationship with the players and coaches. Playing time and strength and conditions facilities will also play a factor.
Do you have any visits set up?
I will set all my visits in October but I haven’t decided which schools I will visit yet.
What will you bring the school you commit to?
I bring length, IQ, athleticism, and explosiveness to attack downhill and score in the lane or pass to teammates. Shot maker and shot creator from the outside, I shot 39% from behind the arc last season, with great court vision. I can play at multiple speeds, getting it up the floor quickly to find a teammate or finish above the rim or slow it down and set up an offense. High intensity and motor, leadership, strong defender on and off the ball, shot blocking for my position, toughness, and competitiveness. I think I bring a huge upside.
What else do you want fans to know about you?
I am a member of the National Honor Society with a 4.0 GPA. They will never find someone who can outwork me.
